In 1956 Gianni Picchi secretly began the development of a new superfinishing machine that used tools in natural diamond. These machines were later called "Ball Superfinishing Machines".
In 1958 the Picchi company was founded as a manufacturer of machine tools specialized in the superfinishing of cones and brass balls for the taps sector.
The industrial production of ball valves became possible thanks to the intuition of the founder, Gianni Picchi, who created the first machine for the superfinishing of balls. The first company to then propose the ball valve was from Lumezzane, which, thanks to the Picchi diamond cutting machine, gained a dominant position on the market.
Picchi was founded in 1958 as a manufacturer of machine tools for the superfinishing of cones and brass spheres in the branch of faucets.
The first machine tool for the superfinishing of the spheres was the historical Picchi “DS SPHERES DIAMOND-SUPERFINISHING MACHINE”.
The machines have evolved during the years in order to offer higher quality and productivity, DS2000 and DS2003 working not only brass spheres but also different materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, plastic materials, etc.
It is an integral part of the Picchi Know-how the use of “natural diamond” tools. This application has evolved and it is not limited to the machining of the spheres.
